Andy writes what he knows! He began his career in the mid-60’s as a fifth-grade teacher in New York's Lower East Side. Andy's students during his early years of teaching lived with dysfunctional families or amidst violent streets.
 

However, his early teaching experience on Manhattan's Lower East Side proved to be more of a process in self-discovery. With little possibility for professional advancement, he soon realized he had ambitions beyond the classroom; one that involved helping to change the system. The future "Dr. Andy" was in the making.
 

His administrative career in Norwood, New Jersey was distinguished by passionate support from teachers, parents, and the public-at-large, who appreciated his integrity-based approach to leadership and consensus building. He served four years as a building principal and 25 years as Chief School Administrator of the Norwood Public School District in Bergen County.

Andy's many accomplishments at the helm in Norwood include improving student achievement and test scores, addressing bullying, expanding the curricula, empowering teachers with more decision-making input, refining special needs programs - particularly for autistic children and their families.

After 42 years in public education, Andy's imagination is unleashed championing teachers as heroes! He focuses on writing and presenting a program, Ignite Your Dreams, to inspire others to tell their stories.
